Brunel Building

Client: Derwent London
Architect: Fletcher Priest Architects
Scale: 1:100
Dimensions: 1200 x 850mm

On the banks of the Grand Union Canal, the 17-storey, 240,000 sq. ft. commercial building lies opposite Brunel’s Paddington Station and its remarkable connections. Below-ground constraints led to a unique external structure that allows for 3.5m high column-free space throughout the building and large windows that give panoramic views from each floor.

This modelling project created a number of exciting technical challenges; the building needed to split seamlessly in two, revealing hyper-realistic, interactively controlled ceiling detail. No two floors or elevations are the same due to the building’s unique structural design.
